Elsa Hansen Oldham

Elsa Hansen Oldham lives and works in Louisville, Kentucky. Originally trained in ballet and modern dance, she came to embroidery by way of film editing, eventually working with artist Tom Sachs, who first showed her work in New York City. Since then, she has continued to evolve her practice, merging the traditional techniques of embroidery and quilting with subversive wit and narrative complexity. Her work has been exhibited at KMAC Contemporary Art Museum, Louisville; Dickinson, New York City; and Rental Gallery, East Hampton, New York, among other venues.
