Alan Sillitoe (1928–2010) was one of the most important British writers of the postwar era. His career spanned four decades and included novels, stories, poems, criticism, plays, children’s books, translations, and memoirs, notably among them the novels Saturday Night and Sunday Morning and The Storyteller.
