Tom McNeal's short fiction has appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, Playboy, and various literary journals, and has been anthologized in the O. Henry and Pushcart Prize collections. His first novel, Goodnight, Nebraska, winner of the James A. Michener Memorial Prize, was published in 1998. He lives in California with his wife, Laura, and their sons, Sam and Hank, aged three and one.
