Agnès Varda

Agnès Varda is an award-winning filmmaker, photographer, and artist. Known as the “godmother of the French New Wave,” she has written and directed more than thirty films, including Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962), Happiness (1965), Vagabond (1985), and The Beaches of Agnès (2008). Her installations, videos, and photographs have been exhibited throughout the world, and are part of the collections of Paris’s Fondation Cartier and New York’s Museum of Modern Art. From November 2013 to June 2014, she will be celebrated with an exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art entitled Agnès Varda in Californialand. Her five-part documentary series Agnès from Here to There will be released by the Cinema Guild in late 2013.
