Damon Runyon

Damon Runyon was born in Manhattan, Kansas, in 1880 and died in 1946. A newspaper journalist, he began his career as a sportswriter and later became a war correspondent for the Hearst papers. Runyon's short stories first appeared in American magazines during the 1930s, and many were adapted for the screen.
