Jeff Bridges is an Oscar-winning actor, producer, musician, author, social activist, and artist. His film credits include The Last Picture ShowThunderbolt and LightfootTRONStarmanTuckerThe Fabulous Baker BoysThe Fisher KingFearlessThe Big LebowskiThe ContenderCrazy HeartTrue Grit, and Hell or High Water. While on set, he takes behind-the-scenes photographs of the actors, crew, and locations, which he then edits into books as gifts for everyone involved. In 2015, he released the spoken-word/ambient recording Sleeping Tapes, all proceeds of which benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign (nokidhungry.org), for which he serves as national spokesperson. He is also the founder of the End Hunger Network (endhunger.com), a nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding children around the world.

Anton Chekhov (1860–1904) was a Russian playwright and singular master of the short story. Along with Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg, he is considered a principal architect of modern drama. Throughout most of his writing career, he practiced as a medical doctor.

Patrick Flanery is the author of three novels, including Absolution, which was short-listed for the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award and the Prix du Premier Roman Étranger, among other prizes. His most recent novel, I Am No One, was published by Tim Duggan Books / Crown in 2016. He has written for Granta, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, and the Guardian, among other publications, and this fall he joins Queen Mary University of London as professor of creative writing.

Karen Russell is the author of the story collections St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves and Vampires in the Lemon Grove, the novella Sleep Donation, and the novel Swamplandia!, which was honored as a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Her story “The Hox River Window,” which appeared in the Fall 2011 edition of Zoetrope: All-Story, won the 2012 National Magazine Award for fiction. She is a 2011 Guggenheim Fellow and a 2013 MacArthur Fellow.

Lily Tuck is the author of a number of books, including Siam, a finalist for the 2000 PEN/Faulkner Award for fiction; The News from Paraguay, winner of the 2004 National Book Award for fiction; I Married You for Happiness; and The Double Life of Liliane. Her forthcoming novel, Sisters, will be published in the fall by Atlantic Monthly Press. Her stories and essays have appeared in the New YorkerVogue, and the Paris Review, among other publications.
