Heather Fowler is a Southern California native, recently relocated to Modesto. She received her M.A. in English and Creative Writing from Hollins University in May of 1997, and alternately teaches at California State University, Stanislaus and Modesto Junior College. Her short stories have recently appeared in the following journals: Exquisite Corpse (May 2001), The Barcelona Review (May 2001), Quercus Review (May 2001), Penumbra (May 2001), B & A New Fiction (January 2001), Barbaric Yawp (December 2000), All-Story Extra (October and December 1999), and Mindkites (December 1999 and June 2000). Her recent poetry publications have been included in the Map of Austin Poetry, The Coast Highway Review, the Driftwood Highway 1999 Anthology, Joe's Journal, Best of the Beach 1998, The Publication, and the Cityworks Literary Anthology. She is author of Child of Darkness: Yôko and Other Stories by Furui Yoshikichi, a translation with critical commentaries. Her fiction has been published in Stanford Magazine, Rain Crow and Berkeley Fiction Review. A story workshopped at Zoetrope, "Hot Spring," will appear in a forthcoming issue of Prairie Schooner.
